Safe Mode = borked, Trojan = Very yes.

I need help. I've got windows XP.
I've managed to contract a trojan that's notorious for being among the hardest to remove. Win32.qoologic.

But that's not the worst part. I could fix it in Safe Mode, but starting in safe mode results in a screen full of vertical green bars on a black background.

What should I do to fix this?

boot off the cd

recovery console, delete the trojan, boot to safemode

if it were that fucking simple, I'd have done it 5 hours ago. Look up some info on the trojan, it doesn't have set names for the 6+ files it makes, it uses random letters based on your drive ID. The program to scan it needs to be run in safe mode, because the trojan hides itself if its running.

Fixed the trojan. Had to remove everything manually and use a program that traces startup stuff.

Still cant get into safe mode.

Safe mode is for losers. Download Very Safe Mode, aka Knoppix.
