power supply

I have a dell dimension 8300, and I'm going to be getting a new video card soon (probably http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814150068) And I'm wondering if the power supply will be able to handle it. Normally, I would assume it could, but I've got 2 extra hard drives, an audigy 2, a gig of ram (not sure how much power that uses), a 5.1 speaker system, a dvdrw and cdrw drive. So I would ventute a guess that I'm pushing it. And If I did have to get a new one, would I have to go through Dell, or do the dimensions use standard sized PS's?

Dunno. What's the Dimension's power supply rated, about 375 watts? What CPU do you have? You'll probably be alright (you might be pushing it if you're using a Prescott-core P4 and some particularly hungry 10k RPM hard disks), but if not Dells do use standard power supplies now (they did do the clever trick a few years back of using the standard ATX connector but wired differently so that if you replaced the PSU or the motherboard with non-Dell spares you would blow one or the other, or both, to kingdom come, but thankfully they've gotten over that idiocy).

You're pushing it hard when both hdd are spinning, the video card is active, and the cpu is under load

You're gonna notice some serious heat coming off that psu

Don't change these.
