DVD burner: LG GSA-4163B or NEC ND-3540A?

The subject says it all. Would I really need -R DL reading and burning? -RAM sounds neat, but is it really useful? Which one is less noisy? Would LG being slightly slower really bug me, when all I have now is x8/x4 CD-R/W burner? Etc., etc.

Actually, I'm nearly certain about getting the LG one, but I wanted to make sure if there aren't any serious hidden drawbacks that are not generally mentioned.

Go with the NEC I'd say. I've been using them since the 2500A and they're pretty solid burners. Sure there are better but for a price premium. The NEC is pretty much a top of the line brand for a low price.

Great media compatibility, good burn speeds, quiet operation (except with CDs and verification it seems?), and cheap to boot.
