I recently reformated and installed Windows XP Pro. Well I can play music and everything fine. But .wmv, .avi, .mov anything in a video format will not play. I have all the right codecs and players...but no matter what player my computer slows to a crawl. I hit CTRL+ALT+DEL to see that the process is 99% on CPU and I have let it stay there for about 6min. All of my media players do same thing..Windows Media Player 9, 10, Quicktime, DivX, Creative Media Source player...nothing works. The same thing also happens when I stream a video from the internet.
What do I do, and if you need to know more about my system specs or anything just ask.

Install the correct video card drivers? Most video cards now come with motion-compensation and YUV converter hardware which is used by some codecs.

I have an XFX 6600GT 128mb AGP 8x with the latest Nvidia driver off of nvidia.com and I can play BINK videos fine and games. So I am pretty sure the driver for the vid card is fine >_<.

Little update..
VLC does the same thing. But at least with it the bar moves and I can here the audio. Computer still slow as hell and the taks manager will show that it is taking 99% CPU.

Yeah, on my card (shit Geforce FX5200) RGB and BGR are swapped in videos.
Unfortunately I can't downgrade, because the old drivers don't like my monitor.
