Two Palm Devices Syncing to One Desktop

My parents used to both have the same model Palm OS device (A TRGpro, think a Palm III with a CF slot).  Both HotSynced to the same desktop, just under different user names.  My father recently bought a Tungsten E, which, since I have the same one, I know it uses a different desktop version than the old Palm III.  My question is, can both of them still sync their devices (my mother's old one & my father's new one) to the same desktop computer?
