Install win2k first, leave few GB unpartitioned space left on your harddrive for ubuntu, and then install ubuntu.

Just make sure to tell it to install ubuntu on the unused space and not erase the entire harddrive. Ubuntu installer should find win2k for you during install and after installation let you pick OS at every boot.

I recommend against installing in the MBR personally, mostly because Microsoft software likes to assume it owns the disk. It's fairly easy to get the windows bootloader to optionally load linux.

Windows insists on being installed on the same disk you're booting from. Of course if you only have one disk that's not a problem.

Ubuntu can use NTFS in the sense of reading from your windows partition, but write support is still incomplete AFAIK. If you're talking about installing Ubuntu on NTFS no, certainly not, and no. Ext3 is the default choice these days. There are plenty of other options, but no reason to use a different filesystem unless you have a good reason.
