Winamp 5 Problem

Name: Shinra 2005-05-20 5:16

When trying to play an .mp3 or any other supported file format (MIDI, .ogg, etc.,) The Winamp player will appear at the top of the screen minimized (Meaning it's tiny and small as possible).

Then I get an error screen saying winamp needs to close because of error.

I've downloaded the latest build from winamp.com several times, but each time it freezies on me.

I am also using the default modern skin.

Comp specs if it helps:
WinXp Pro SP2
1GB Ram
Pentium 4 CPU

When I checked on the reason, it referred me to ntdll.dll,
and when I ran a system search, I got it in my system folder.

Now before when this problem had happened to me, the reason was a faulty plug-in dll, and once deleted, Winamp ran fine.

Any thoughts as to why its not working?

I've relucntaly had to use WMP for the time being, but I <3 Winamp.

Also, if there is a seperate help subforum, I did not see any indication of such, so I apoligize if this is in the incorrect area.

Don't know what the problem is, but WMP is pure evil. Use winamp2 or foobar2k to save your soul. If you just have to use winamp5, do older versions work?

When does the error occur? Right after running winamp, or when it starts playing? Do you hear any sound at all? Is winamp set to start playing on start? Etc.
