is it worth my while to convert about 14 gigs worth of .wmas to .mp3? If not, please explain in some detail why not. (quality degradation, etc.)

Unless your wma's are lossless encoded, I whould not. Converting a lossy encoded file to another lossy encoded file is going to give you some quality degretation yes.
What is the reason you want to convert your wma's to mp3's in the first place?

The real question is why in hell anyone would have 14 gigs of WMAs to begin with.
