This morning while I was sleeping my wife decided to make my study even smaller by moving a bookcase in. To do this she moved my computer. Now it hangs during boot when it gets to the "checking ram" stage.
I've tried swapping all the DIMMs around, nothing. Halp :(

reseating the CPU shouldn't be necessary. CPUs install like nobody's business.
In fact, if the memory was installed properly in the first place; a small incendiary device should've been the first line of offense against your DIMMs.
remove all memory. then put a single stick into the first slot. check boot. if it doesn't work, try next slot. etc etc. bad memory + bad slot = bad boot. design your own system of checking each RAM.
maybe she fried some of your memory when she unplugged the computer.
