I've been having trouble with this driver since I went from ME to XP. It doesn't read any discs I put in it, but I can hear it running. So far I have uninstalled/reinstalled the driver and downloaded a .sys file from DriverGuide.com. I try to activate autorun, but that doesn't work either. Can anyone help me?

It shouldn't need drivers for ME or for XP - it should detect it regardless. If it's spinning, and the device is showing up in Windows, but it's still not reading the discs it sounds more like a fault on the drive. Try booting to a DOS disk with CD-ROM drivers, or try booting from your XP CD. If it can't read discs/boot then, then you know your drive is knackered. Optical drives just die like that sometimes (like every eighteen months or so). If it's not the drive and the thing's just not showing up under Windows, remove the drive controllers from device manager (not just the drive, but the IDE controllers too) and reboot. But I don't see how it could mess that part up - if you're installing Windows and it screws up the CD drivers, it can't continue installing itself because it can no longer see its own CD.
