so recently whenever i playback video it's all jerky and the sound pulls ahead of the video/subs. the video actually seems to go in slow motion often. this happens on all files/formats, less so for old stuff like DBZ/goldenboy. didn't use to happen -- problem is i changed a bunch of stuff around so i can't really isolate the cause. one thing i hope to rule out is this "new" video card i installed. my old card was a diamond monster fusion (16 MB), and this one is a RIVA TNT2 M64 (32 MB). (as you can tell my computer is mostly donations.) my motherboard is old but the RIVA card is as far as i can figure "universal" and it seems to run fine, and hey there's actually official win xp drivers for this card! i'm not too smart when it comes to hardware, i figure 32 > 16 but i just wanted to eliminate this as a potential cause.

uninstall the drivers for your videocard, and uninstall all prior codecs in the Add/Remove listing.
this is a codec issue but i wanted to get you the drivers anyway. you may need to get a single other codec for dual audio and subtitles, but I'm not sure. try this first.
