Help with my HD

I accidentaly deseble my exernal HD (firewire connected), which I use as backup of all my stuff (hentai included) during the reinstallation of WinXP, because the installation prompt saw it as a partition D:// and I did not recognize it!!!

But the system did not start a format process, it only shows no more the external HD identity. I try to recreate the partition fron the same point but it shows me now all the 39,994 Gigas of its 40s.

Is there a chance to have the files, folders, ecc saved and back them up???

What software do I have to use? I tried with Disk Director 9.0

Please help if there's anything possible.

Before you alter your system Here is Wisdom:
Always correctly shut/power down and then disconnect your updated backup drives.
Cold Boot, THEN do the reinstall/whatever.

You're right.... I did it so careless.
