I'm a newbie, when it comes to Overclocking...
I want to Overclock my AMD 64-bit 3000+ (( 2ghz )), I'm aware you have to go into the BIOS, but after that... I'm clueless; Can someone point me in the right direction?

First: why would you need to overclock it?
Second: You change the FSB(front size bus) speed up. it's probibly default 166mhz.

>>2 any idea if that can be done on an old (pIII) system?

Only girlymen are afraid to overclock. Failure to overclock is a crime against humanity!

its pointless these days... oc your 3ghz to 4ghz with vaporphase? why?
i oced my p3 450 'sl35d' to 675mhz, the agp divider on the mobo sucked so that box had to run a pci video card, even then the pci bus was way too high
nothing you retards are doing needs that extra few % at the cost of stability and/or durability
and noobs just gtfo, OMG DID U OVERCLACK IT!!! MAN THATS COOL U HAXORED THE HARDWARES!Q!
seriously shutup

The only thing that might still be useful is underclocking.
Nobody needs to overclock. Not unless they're an amateur doing renders.

First, his front side bus should default to 200hmz, second, depending on the boards chipset, it might have a pci/agp lock, so the pci and agp busses will stay the same. For the athlon 64, all nvidia chipsets are locked, and teh Via k8t800 pro is locked. If it is done right on a locked system, there will be no stability issues.
And by the way, i can get a 20% overclock on my 3000+ with the only issue being added heat. So its not just a few%.

20% what? CPU frequency? Hah.

I can get a 20% overclck on my processor, from 2.0 to 2.4 ghz. I have this thing that most overclockers call agp/pci locks. No matter what i set the front side bus to, the agp bus will stay at 66, and the pci bus will stay at 33. As i said, the only issue is heat, so it is not just a few mhz here and there. Mabee you should look into the nForce 3 250gp chipset. It can do as i say and it wont disrupt the rest of the system. The main thing that will hold you back is your ram. Mine is the PQI Turbo series and i can take it from 400mhz to 480+. Thats how you overclock.
