School computer nostalgia

I was ruminating over the Unisys ICON network we used to play around in. Aside from the usual typing programs, I can remember a money/time management game similar to Jones in the Fast Lane. A little research turned up that it used the QNX operating system. Anyone here ever use an ICON, remember what the games were called, or hopefully knows if software/emulators are available for it?

For some reason, nostalgia for me is the old IBM Classroom LAN Manager which ran on a bunch of shitty 386 machines that were supposedly designed to rival the Macintosh all-in-one units.

I remember a flaw in the network that allowed me to access the administration section of the manager and in the process I created a few accounts.

Somehow the flaw got out and a bunch of people were fucking around with it, getting information on other people's user accounts, deleting shit, and just creating havoc. All those people got punished, but I got off scot-free somehow.

I miss the shitty computers now.

We had 'homebuilt' VT52 clone terminals connected up to a Perkin Elmer of some description, and an 'integrated' Pascal environment called "sched". And a whole whopping 120 seconds of CPU time per week, and a 1 million executed instructions per program (before a forced SIGINT)... Yet somehow, I still managed to cut my teeth with coding by writing Mandelbrot programs for the 132 column line-printer, animated ASCII ray-traced spheres, and an ersatz FORTH interpreter...
The first-years terminal room was a great place. Quiet, sun lit with views of the eucalypt trees outside, air-con, and a troop of other proto-hackers who weren't yet allowed on the Real Iron. I visited the room not too long ago while I was visit the campus for other reasons, and now it's filled with _noisy_ WinNT4 PeeCees, and fuckwits downloading porn and mp3s... :/

The good ol' days of computers that were just text-based instead of this silly multi-tasking world with colour everywhere.

And my friends wonder why I yearn to use a functioning command line in Windows.
