I don't know what you people expect out of things.
Wizard Barristers had some insane effects and explosions, catchy directing, easily the most polished finishing and processing of anything in Winter, and top-notch character art all the way through. The animation in quieter parts was also very lively, with a bunch of movement, character acting in places where other shows would put mouthflaps, interesting expressions here and there besides the stock stuff. It was really good and you need to have insane standards if it disappointed. Yes, the CGI was terrible but who cares?
As for Space Dandy #2, the guy who said there was nothing special just didn't watch it. Either that or he doesn't belong here. The character animation was even better than most movies for the entire episode, it had tons of funny faces and snappy movements, the action was on-point and the trippy dimension-hopping sequence was on par with anything from ep 1.

>>887 I don't even remember any special animations in ep 2 of Dandy.
This sentence is so dumb that I don't even care to tell this guy how awesome Takashi Mukouda's ramen fight scene was.
I hate it when people like you write down their shitpost nah that shit was boring
but then they don't even care to explain.
troll my ass

I loved Dandy's Michael Jackson move in episode 2.

Wizzard Barristers ep 1 > Space Dandy ep 1&2
Wizzard Barristers is the more technical consistent show. The biggest difference was maybe that the city in WB was more lively and beliviable than the space stations in SD.
SD is more the money shot kind of way of handle animations, while WB is Umetsu trying to create a lively world.
SD is maybe the more interesting show if you want to make many little gifs and MADs, while WB was something that didn't look something like a tv anime episode.

We're talking about animation here though. World of Wizard Barristers is lively primarily thanks to the excellent background artist team.
If we're talking about animation only, I think Dandy is better animated.

Yes, animations.
The WB staff put way more effort into the non-action scenes. Way more background animations and character animations in dialogue scenes.
I guess that's the difference between a more director centric (WB with Umetsu) way of handle the things and giving some of your key animators so much freedom as possible.

I don't think that's true after Dandy's 2nd episode.

I watched the second episode of Space Dandy directly after Wizzard Barrister and it was very noticable.

2nd episode of Dandy has better character animation. If you disagree you're wrong.
It's fun to get into little sakuga fights and all but we should take a moment and be glad that the hyped shows actually delivered.
It helps that Wizard Barristers' storyboard is way stronger than Space Dandy's in these segments.
I'm really dissapointed that the space stations are such a letdown.

so true, I'm with you.
Thank you Bones.

Not sure about your opinion anon.
With all respect to Umetsu's great consistency and nice clothing folds, but
I almost fell asleep during the second half of WB. Very generic even if it was consistent.
Space Dandy is a lot more fun to watch, there are many interesting details in each shot. I can never look away during the show. And it's also worth the rewatch because of all the details in the animation.
You should really rewatch the show. The cuts outside of the action scenes are barely animated. It's not really interesting, neither animationwise nor the direction/storyboard.

The only consistent thing about WB are the stills and the low-key character animations.
