Abe is nice, but they need more character animators.

Blowing up everything in every shot is kind of boring.

Utsunomiya will animate all the characters in every episode.

I hope

There's a rumor that Umetsu and Utsunomiya had a falling out.
Unfortunately Umetsu's blog seems to corroborate it.

http://nailwonder.blog44.fc2.com/blog-entry-515.html
Umetsu meets with Utsunomiya. Probably asks him to storyboard/direct/AD.

http://nailwonder.blog44.fc2.com/blog-entry-525.html
Around one month later, Umetsu says something really depressing happened, and says he had lunch with an animator and director.

Conclusion: Utsunomiya brings the storyboard, picks a fight with Umetsu like he did with Kon, and walks out on him, fucking up his schedule.
Umetsu is forced to go to studio Hibari to replace him.

Anyway, I wouldn't have too high hopes.

Care to explain what happened with Kon?

Utsunomiya changed the story on his episode of Paranoia Agent without permission, and later dropped out when he had already promissed to do animation and episode direction for episode 9 as well.
Is what it says in the sakuga wiki.

Rather lame line-up for Wizard Barristers. Space Dandy wins this time.

Dandy

Animation Director: Hiroyuki Aoyama
Animation Director: Tomohisa Shimoyama
Storyboard, Episode Director: Akemi Hayashi
Storyboard, Episode Director, Animation Director: Michio Mihara

This looks very promising.

Barristers

Episode Director, Animation Director: Masashi Kudo

Might be cool. Episode #1 too.

It's a shame, I guess Utsunomiya always wants to be "the director".
But to be honest, his Paranoia Agent episode is still great.

He is a great animator but maybe he should become director, he doesn't seem to like it anymore to get orders from other directors.

I had a feeling about what this was going to be.

Guys, I just realized that no one is making any monthly sakuga videos.

Who the fuck cares about that anymore? They were wrong for the most parts anyways and the material was generally mediocre at best

Youtube also blocks many music tracks now.

So Utsunomiya took what was probably an average PA ep, turned it into a masterpiece leagues beyond the rest of the series, and Kon had the gall to get angry?

What's the deal with these control freaks? Well, Utsunomiya would probably also be a control freak. Directors and their shitty personalities...

What makes you so sure of that? Did you see the original script and know exactly what Utsunomiya changed and how many of those changes survived the final cut? Please...

At the beginning of the show I found all these limited "animations?" funny.
But now it starts to get boring.

I can't imagine Imaishi's animators sitting there, drawing 2 cels for an entire cut and be satisfied.

I hope they release a making of like LWA.

Name: Anonymous 2014-01-10 8:57

where can I find this "making of LWA"?

Name: Anonymous 2014-01-10 9:01

Could be.
Ohira is a lecturer at Nagoya Zokei University.
Sakiyama might have studied under him at some point.

I think he studied under him during animation production.
Ohira corrected Sakiyama's Redline animation.
Sakiyama worked on Ohira's Asura short
