The pioneer of this technique is Taijin Takeuchi.

His version is less expensive, but it's exactly the same thing.
He used photographs instead of drawings.

I think Taijin's work has more impact, because when I watch it I can see all the effort that was put into that.

There is a lot more work in the Bear animation, but the problem is that it makes no sense to do this, because if you haven't seen the making of, you will never find out that it was made this way. You can achieve the exact same thing digitally with less money and less time, just with After Effects.
