It's not hard to understand.

When you combine great animation skills with great drawing skills, that's how you become an Inoue or Okiura.

And that's something rare in the animation world, most animators can only draw in a certain stylistic way, with very simplified anatomy and flat bodies.

Just imagine Adam Hughes was also a great animator, he would be on the same league as Inoue.
It's still a mystery to me how animators in Japan started to care about anatomy and realism. Was it because of their leading comic artists such as Otomo?
