Iso. It's on the DC artbook that features early concept art/image boards and various other drawings by him, and the drawings kinda scream Iso.

Isn't there anyone up to the task of redoing the Mitsuo Iso's MAD ?

The only one still on youtube lack some good scenes and more recent ones I've seen here, and it's quality is shit, seriously...

I've been watching Yozakura and KlK so far without any skipping.
Yozakura's animation is great.
http://youtu.be/jqkkEANmZKQ

But what I realized is lacking in both is sakuga individuality.
I'm not saying that it's bad, but as an animation appreciator it's more interesting to see the style of each animator.

I think it's missing everywhere these days.
Back then it was a common thing and I really liked that.

But on Yozakura or KLK, they either animate like Yamashita, Yoshinari or Imaishi.

The only place where you can still find many sakuga styles is Ghibli or Khara.

and Bones.

Imagine everyone at Bones was animating like Yutapon,
I think that would make Yutapon's animation less special.

Imo variety in sakuga style brings a balance to the animation quality.

KLK

Are you implying that KLK has animation or even sakuga?

The only place where you can still find many sakuga styles is Ghibli or Khara.

Dumbest shit I've read for a long time

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-26 15:14

no, very smart shit actually.

This is bullshit. Miyazaki films are anti-animator. They always were. Lately he got more lax, but still the only animator who's readily identifiable in his newer films is Ohira. The others are all bogged down as much as possible to be like Miyazaki's style, even Hashimoto and Shinji Otsuka. It's the same with Goro films and Arriety.
Takahata's new film doesn't count because it's one in 14 years.

Actually, there are more "sakuga styles" (lol) just in YZQ episode 1 than in any Miyazaki film. My own opinion is that a lot of these "styles" are gimmicky and uninteresting, but the variety is there nonetheless.

Please, individuality is overrated.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-27 3:19

>>251

so you can feel somewhat important because you can tell who did an scene?

this is what is wrong with the sakuga fandom, seems like people care more about recognizing people than valuing animation for what it is

distinctive styles

Am I being baited?

seems like people care more about recognizing people than valuing animation for what it is

No,
but I like it when you have both of it, a great animation plus an interesting unique style.

Of course no one cares if the animator has a unique style but sucks at animating.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-27 7:55

Not to mention that the reason why we are all here is because of those unique animators with their distinctive styles.

If they would not exist, no one would care about sakuga.

To think that individuality in anime doesn't matter is ridiculous.
It's the most important element of sakuga, that's why we are here, talking about animators.

It all started with animators like Kanada, they were the reason why people and the media suddenly started to talk about the production of animation and the people behind the anime.

Individual animators are not overrated, they are underrated.

We value the people and the animation.

You seem to be totally wrong.

I dunno if it is the "best" but I think it is pretty interesting.
Before the show began airing, the official twitter account was introducing & promoting all the different mecha animators that were going to work on the show in an AD capacity and had them all draw an illustration.
You can see all of them here: https://twitter.com/buildfighters/media

Think and ask yourself, when has an official Twitter promoted the animation directors on a show? Sure some might promote the main staff, several of them are not main staff, these are people working in the animation director rotation. That's a certain kind of dedication.

Each episode thus far has had some great mecha animation. Some episodes more than others, but each episode almost always delivers some interesting animation.

Lead mecha ADs on the show are two relatively young people: Kim Se Jun and Hiroshi Arisawa.

Arisawa's animation tends to feature mecha drawn with a realistic tone to it. On the other hand, we have Kim who combines Hironori Tanaka's flair with Obari like timing/poses.

Episode 5 was a KenO AD/storyboard episode and it looked nice.
Ep 6 had staff I'm not familliar with but featured some intense mecha fighting animation, nobody expected that.
Ep 7 was the Obari episode and delivered Obari things.
Ep 8 had the lead chara/mecha AD of the show deliver lots of action.
Ep 9 is Mutaguchi Hiroki's AD ep.
Finally, ep 10 is Kim's AD episode, after that stellar 2nd episode, this should be one of the best looking ones yet again.

That is 6 episodes that feature some great talent and animation, back to back! Often a show will have one, or two teams in their rotation that are really good, this show has managed to feature 6 back to back. Sunrise are really putting a lot of effort into this series and it shows.

I disagree. Only Kim's episode was interesting imo.

Watching the latest Kyoukai no Kanata episode makes me wonder how animators who're so good at effect and character animation can be  so bad at animating action scenes.

Direct/Storyboard: Kawanami
Animation Director: Hikiyama

Wow.  Well it was a big action packed episode so understandable.  Wonder if Kawanami did the Izumi vs Fujimi battle; he is also credited for key

I think you fail to understand the nature of how KyoAni went with their shows. Did you really think they'd be honed to serious action scenes?

To me, it's already a surprise that they're dishing out something like this at ep 9. This already shatters my doubts on ep 1 and 2's bland action scenes. They certainly have the skills if they get more exposure to such. Let's face it though, that's not gonna happen.

I don't see why not, they'll do another season of KnK if they want to.  Even Tamako got another project.

It makes sense if they believe in Ishidate's ability.

The action in Kyoukai no Kanata #9 sure was good, especially in the first half of the episode.

To each their own but AGE, Geass or 00 didn't have this kind of dedication. (Not counting Valvrave, Xenoglossia or Sora Kake since they mostly look shit)
