RIP In Piece future KyoAni action anime.

Seriously they should stop doing so for the time being. They're so terrible at it. Without Ishidate touching KAs it just felt so damn bland.

Either they hire more people like Ishidate or they don't do another one.

Now who's up for some inevitable Coppelia in 2015? Might be good but I'm wondering who would handle the project if it does push through.

An Interview with Jeremie Perin

Janine
The style of the video is very anime. Is there a particular anime that
inspired you, or was it just an aesthetic you wanted to experiment with? What
made you choose this particular aesthetic for the story you wanted to tell?

Jeremie
About the aesthetic, I had to chose a drawing style that could work
with the 2 parts of the video: the naive first part and the second part: the
horror part. If I chose a too naive or childish aesthetic, the second part would
be much too cynical.  If I had chosen a too dark aesthetic, the first part would
be missed because the audience could think “there is something wrong there.”
The aesthetic of this video has been built on the story’s twist in the middle of the
movie. I’m influenced by Japanese animation, because I watched many ones
since I was achild, but in fact I had more live action movies in mind like John
Carpenter’s The Thing or the ending of Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond. So,
consequently I had Yoshiyaki Kawajiri’s Wicked City in mind too, because it’s
an animation movie influenced by The Thing.

Wicked City

Pretty much what I had in mind.

So does that guy still think it's an animatic?

My only problem is the strobing here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KOKvYDLArg&t=4m50s

They should not have moved the bg that much.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 5:17

>>129
I don't see any major strobbing.

I like the shakycam but I'll agree it's a bit questionable, especially for the mountains at the far back. The part where background animation kicks in is superb though.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 5:26

>>130

I don't really mind the shakycam effect but that background moves to much. The animated parts are obviously going to shift relative to the bg but it feels like they aren't anchored anymore. Looking back, it's not really that obvious if you just stare at the foreground.

No problem with the cut after that of course.

I love it when people from /a/ keep questioning things they don't even understand.

The cut was CG after all.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 8:57

>>132

Please. Scenery at that distance doesn't move like that.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 9:55

>>134

it does?

Never looked out of the window while driving on a high-way or something?

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 10:48

It's an animatic anyway.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 11:52

This is just pathetic...

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 12:02

I commute daily. And far away stuff doesn't get epileptic on my ass when I look out the window.

Lol, so KLK is indeed the new Titans?

Fuck you Trigger and Imaishi.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-16 13:34

I would imagine such effects are all computer generated these days.

I dunno where you drive on, but I'm never constantly shaking when I'm driving on a highway. Things move in a straight line.
And >>138 is right. I don't care that it isn't realistic, the movie doesn't want to be realistic, I just think it looks maybe a bit too shaky.

Yeah, it was only a matter of time with all the flops since Nichijou.

KyoAni deserves it.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-18 6:49

KyoAni have to start hiring more "real" CG animator if they want to do a full-CG anime.

People who are handling CG in their shows right now are compositors.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-18 8:06

>>155

And they still look decent to good by anime CG standards. Just goes to show how shit this "craft" is.  Fuck Pixar, and fuck J. Lasseter. He is the child of Satan.

So edgy man

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-18 8:31

>>156

I like CG but I think it has to have it's own place. It doesn't belong in anime. But sadly it'll still overshadow 2D no matter what.

Name: Anonymous 2013-11-18 8:41

2D will never die because people will never stop enjoying the act of drawing.
