Kill La Kill looks consistent because it's a complete in-house production.
This is and has always been the result of in-house productions.

Hiring freelancers allows for more individuality but also lots of off-model key-animation.

Karisuma animators are in a lonely environment during their work.
Ohira, Yutapon and Iso never work in a group shared room, they want to be alone.

Iso used to lock himself in a room and thow around with things, you could hear strange smashing sounds, no one knew what was really going on.

Ohira has been working from home since the beginning, only on Akira he was asked by Otomo to come into the studio.

Yutapon also has his own room at Bones.

Anno also gave Iso a special room during End of Evangelion production.

The less you communicate with the other animators during the production, the more you become individual.

Kanada also used to be an animator who never followed the advice of his fellow animators.

it's obvious that your animation ends up looking like Imaishi if he is sat next to you telling you to do this and that.
