Hell, naming people after fictional characters is what gave us a lot of the names we consider standard today.
Mathew, Jacob, Mark, Mary, etc.

Kanaya is a pretty name, but I am just... adverse to people naming their kids after fictional characters, because it's often a very rash decision.

It's like naming your kid Moonbeam. You may think it's cool and unique for a month, but the kid has to be stuck with it for life.
