Comics that would make a good movie or series

Either animated or live action.  Assuming the adapatation was completely faithful, with voices, plot, and characters living up to exactly what you expect when reading the actual comic.  For example, a Calvin and Hobbes that had the liveliness and wit of the comic with voices that fit exactly how your mind saw or "read" them.

Mainstream:

-Daredevil (done right)
-Catwoman (done right)
-X-Men (current issues)

Independant:

-Too Much Coffee Man (The author pokes fun at this idea and rejects it)
-Johnny the Homicidal Maniac
-Elfquest

Web comics:
-MegaTokyo
-PVP
-VG Cats
-Clone Army (various)

Sage just because a Calvin and Hobbes movie was something Watterson never wanted to exist.

Neon Genesis Evangelion, but written and directed by Yoshiyoki Sadamoto instead of Hideki Anno, with a new ending written so that it becomes the exclamation point for all that's come before instead of going spiraling down into the Black Pit of WTF.

Yes, Anno-san, you're angsty, we get it, WE GET IT.  You've suffered for your art, and now it's our turn.  CHECK PLEASE!

I think there should be a movie on a certain part of MAUS.  It would be a little much to have the whole thing and it would be pointless to cram it all in... maybe a trilogy?  Anyways, I think it would be really cool.  That style would look neat animated... (live action would be doofy...) it would be kind of raw and strange looking.

None of those would be good.

The comic "Bone" would make an excellent series in my opinion.

Totally agree, none of those would be any good as movies, and pretty terrible as animated series.

MAUS is a great candidate for animation. Very away from mainstream animation as well. For something of that length, it could be a mini-series. 4 to 6 episodes. It is kind of much for movies, even a trilogy.

Sin City, coming out this Friday (whee!) is a perfect comic, especially since much of Sin City is small anecdotes (eg, "Booze, Broads, and Bullets") and would be easily digested as a movie. Also, Frank Miller, the creator, is co-directing, so that'll make sure it stays true to the original and be awesome.

A really good title that already has been adapted (and well) is Blade, since one could take quite a few artistic liberties and no one would really bitch.

Now if I could somehow stop that new Batman cartoon from coming out, and get Bruce Timm to come back and animate another series, and Jeph Joeb to write it, I'd be set.

Oh, and if X-Men movies were written by Joss Whedon (currently writing Astonishing X-Men, Created Buffy, Angel, and Firefly), I'd be ecstatic. Being 1 of 6 authors for the original X-Men movie, the only surviving bit from Joss's script was:
Cyclops: "How do we know you're really Wolverine?"
Wolverine: "You're a dick."
Cyclops: "Okay."

Whedon is currently writing the Wonder Woman movie, which fills me with hope on a series I could care less about, and supposedly they have been postponing on casting as to focus on the story. Sounds like good moves for a solid movie. Wish it was a different title.

The Sandman could make a great live-action film provided it stayed true to the source material (a la Sin City), as opposed to other films based on comics that either A. Completely mangle the source material or B. Just plain suck.

But I really wouldn't like to see the film made, as the risk of it sucking far outweighs how good it could be.

Don't change these.
