small single books or epic series?

Hey /book/,

Do you guys prefer small single books or an epic series of large books?

Both are fine. When it's something I particularly liked it's nice to know there's more of it out there. But at the same time it has to end somewhere. Some stories don't need to be more than a single short book, and trying to extend them past their natural lifespan would be unwise.

This is why I liked Slaughterhouse 5 so much. It didn't really have a definite beginning, middle, or end.

But overall, I prefer a short book with a good impact over a long, drawn-out series. It's just more efficent.

I prefer epic scale series like lord of the rings, dark brothers of the light, game of thrones, hunger games, wheel of time, dragon lance (first series)

if you like LOTR, why not read the real thing, the Eddas, and other Nordic, Germanic and British myth

Don't change these.
