Hey /lit/

I want to read Les Miserables, and I'm looking to see which translation is considered the best.  At the very least, I would like to know, in your opinions, the merits of different translations (word-for-word, spirit of the writing, etc.)  I remember reading an abridged version in an English class, but this time, I want to go for the real deal without outright learning French.

Much appreciated :)

I really enjoyed it. I felt I could identify with Saladin quite a lot. Though I felt the book got a bit boring at times, especially the second act (ElOhEn DeeOhEn.

Rushdie's language is incredibly rich and the novel is well written. You may struggle if you do not know anything about south Asian culture as there are many reference to it. It helps if you have a little background about the book because otherwise it is confusing as fuck.
