Reading a book in a foreign language.

That's the stuff bros. I'm brazilian, ergo, I speak portuguese as my mother language, however, I'm perfect fluent in english and I use to read book in english.
I noticed that, my effort to read a book in a foreign language make easy to me read a book in my mother language.
It's like run on the beach(hard) and then run on the sidewalk(easy).

If English is my native language and I learnt high school level French but most of that has been forgotten what books could you recommend for reading to learn French?
