This book was well written but was definately NOT for beginners and covered very little on mIRC and scripting with that client. This book is mostly for programmers familiar with python and java. There was also lots of info in reguards to unix and linux. I was hoping that this book would have been more beginner friendly and give some handy hacks for mIRC for windows platforms. Needless to say, I wouldnt recommend this book for any begginers or windows users. I feel that I wasted my money on this book.

SICP is an introductionary text for programming. It teaches Lisp.

Ignore OP, he couldn't understand the book -> which means he thinks it's advanced -> he is not programmer material

to be fair though OP is right. It covered nothing on mIRC scripting and was focused around unix.

I must agree on that point. I bought this book because I wanted to be able to write my own mIRC scripts (I'm an admin in a popular IRC channel).
The authors barely cover that subject. Instead we are given all kind of useless abstract bullshite. I'll buy "The Art of Computer Programming". Given the price, I do hope it's more relevant.

Ive read this book and I can tell you first hand that OP is attempting farcical humor in the form of a troll post.

Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs is a wonderful introduction into the world of computer science using the functional LISP derivative, Scheme as a teaching tool. It provides loads of excellent exercises giving the reader plenty of practice in problem solving and conquering complexity.

Downside: SICP is not a technical manual. Don't treat it like one. If you want to learn how to solve some real world problems, you need to look elsewhere.
