Looking for a good book to read, not dead set on a genre but I'm leaning towards something that's new, intelligent and mystery/thriller. The only idea that I have is Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay because I like the show, but I have no idea if it's good or not. Putting complete faith in all of you.

Been looking around a bit and stuff by Lovecraft looks interesting as well, but I'm really uninformed when it comes to all of this.

Early Dexter books are good fun.  I thought Lindsey was getting tired around the 3rd or 4th.  (How do you keep making villains worse than Dexter?)

Lovecraft is good stuff too, he was better at short stories than the longer stuff--I would start with an anthology.

Lee Child novels are great. Jack Reacher is a great character. Look it up.
