the Allegory of the Cave

okay so the deal is, i'm reading this currently and while i understand that it's all a huge extended metaphor for something, i'm not exactly sure of all of it. i'm not going to post up my thoughts right now because i've not gotten them all together, but if you've read this piece and have some kinds of thoughts to share, i definitely wouldn't mind hearing them.

Save yourself the boredom of reading Plato by watching "The Matrix" instead.  Then you can write a report about it that includes things like Deja Vu and Agents.  Your teacher will fucking flip.

the cave is a metaphor for human life, naivety and ignorance
when the man steps out of the cave he experiences some kind of epiphany, and sees everything as connected, having stared into the full light of knowledge. after returning to the darkness of ignorance he can no longer comprehend his past beliefs, or sit with those content to watch the shadows of the fire.
or something

we've got a bingo.

the fire is truth, the wall is life, the cave is our enclosed societies.

law and philosophy is escaping life and everything around it and attaining  something more then just mortal coil.  if it was written later on in life, it would be called heaven.

ironically, anyone that truly understands the cave and tries to explain it to other people, kind of shows the real life version of what happens.

yeah, Plato is a good read.  Just as Socrates.

If you didn't get it, read it again. In order to understand Plato, you must understand Plato.
