okay so the deal is, i'm reading this currently and while i understand that it's all a huge extended metaphor for something, i'm not exactly sure of all of it. i'm not going to post up my thoughts right now because i've not gotten them all together, but if you've read this piece and have some kinds of thoughts to share, i definitely wouldn't mind hearing them.

the cave is a metaphor for human life, naivety and ignorance
when the man steps out of the cave he experiences some kind of epiphany, and sees everything as connected, having stared into the full light of knowledge. after returning to the darkness of ignorance he can no longer comprehend his past beliefs, or sit with those content to watch the shadows of the fire.
