Anybody a fan of Ryu Murakami here?  I've been seriously considering checking him out lately, as I loved the movie for Audition.

I read Piercing. I remember it fondly, and it's the only novel I've ever read in a single sitting.

I'd recommend him, besides my own personal experience, he seems to have a pretty good reputation. It's kind of sad that he'll forever be "the other Murakami".

You wouldn't happen to have been on the book topic /mu/ had a few days ago would you?  Because if so, you're how I found out about Ryu.

Yup, I'm a fan.
Funny thing how I got Audition. I went to this bookstore I often visit, and ask the clerk for some Japanese literature(was really into it at that time). He told me to get The Diving Pool (by Yoko Ogawa), so I still had about 10€ left to spend and the clerk says that I should also get Murakami. I said back that I've read books by Murakami and didn't like them much, but he responded with: "Ooh, but not THIS Murakami."

Well, I'm glad to say, that I walked away with two very good books.

Don't change these.
