You've obviously never really had a job before. Everybody has degrees these days and people won't hire you without. The easy mode, middle class life of a 9 to 5, with a house and a car is gone. These days you've got to work for it, and without a degree good luck finding any employer willing to chose you over the 1000 other people with them.
Honestly, in 2010, if you don't have a degree you better start loving unskilled labour because thats all you'll get to do.
As for me, I'm a journalism graduate. Started off in print doing a bit of freelance writing for BBC and France24, but moved to Japan and now do video journalism for NHK. Pretty cool shit. I'm not on camera (I film actually), and get to travel quite a lot. Me and some writer just spent 2 weeks in Cambodia.
