The Scarlet Letter

I have to read this for one of my collage literature classes. Problem is, every time I try to read this book, I fall asleep. (no joke) And when I DO happen to not fall asleep, I can't remember any of the details.

I guess none of that matters, I would just like to know if /book/ has read this abomination, and what you guys think about it.

Strangely enough, that is the only one of Hawthorne's works I have not read. In my opinion, he is a far better short story writer than novelist. He doesn't seem to have as astute an eye for detail when working in the longer form, and his moral lessons become fractured and ineffective.
