I really liked Jonathan Safran Foer until he wrote that book Eating Animals and then went on Ellen bitching about the meat industry.
Anyone else feel the same way?
It's not like I have a problem with Vegans. If you don't want to eat meat, then don't. But I'd rather they don't write books about how it's a matter of concern that humans are eating meat. You stopped eating meat because you couldn't in good conscience stomach consuming animals. Well, I can in good conscience eat animals. So I will.
The whole thing reminds me of a quote from JM Coetzee's Disgrace: "to me animal-welfare people are a bit like Christians of a certain kind. Everyone is so cheerful and well-intentioned that after a while you itch to go off and do some raping and pillaging. Or to kick a cat."
