Good literature?

Gene Wolfe said "My definition of good literature is that which can be read by an educated reader, and reread with increased pleasure."

What is your definition of good literature?

So by that definition, incest porn is good literature

I like Gene Wolfe, but that quote just makes him sound like he has his head up his ass.

A better definition, and I forgot which publisher I'm quoting:

"I know a book is good when the first sentence is good enough to motivate me to read the second, the second is good enough to motivate me to read the first paragraph, the paragraph leads to the first page, leads to the second... until the book is finished."

IMO

good literature shouldn't be defined against one's ability to paint a scene or convey emotions, but should rather be scaled on the success of offering the reader an insight into another's imagination and consciousness.
