Mostly SF and fantasy?

I've found with /book/ that there seems to be two kinds of people. Those into what bookstores deem "literature" and those who just read SF and fantasy.

Which doesn't surprise me because SF and fantasy readers have always been loyal. It's a genre with a guaranteed readership if the work is good.

How many of you just read within the SF or fantasy genre?

But the work is never good.

I was once like that, for a very long time. Actually, I read mostly fantasy for a number of years, then slowly started including science fiction, then after a few years historical fiction, and now I'm contemplating taking a foray into contemporary and classic literature.

Note though that I'm still playing around my original sandbox plenty.

There was a period in my life where I ONLY read fantasy.
After about 3-5 years I slowly stopped reading as much as I did first and now I'm making a comeback while focussing more on literature.

I try to mix it up. Classic and modern literature is all well and good, but it's fun to mix in a good sci-fi or fantasy book every now and then.

well the vast majority of my books are sci-fi, fantasy, adventure, horror, mystery or cold war style spy novels.

well what should I be reading then? I dont see  any reason to read 'mature' novels instead of what I like reading.

Don't change these.
