Android Rights?

I'm not usually a big sci-fi reader, but something recently piqued my interest in androids. I'm particularly interested in books that discuss their status as beings. Whether they deserve human rights, that sort of thing.

Any recommendations?

Animals are mostly extinct as well and even artificial animals are expensive. The title has multiple meanings.
