Books about Superheroes

Would you read a novel about superheroes? Why or why not?

Important note: I am talking about entirely new heroes in a new setting; NOT about heroes like Batman, Spiderman, etc. It would have nothing to do with Marvel, Vertigo, DC, etc. So it would be entirely original; not glorified fanfiction.

That in mind, what would draw you into reading it? What would keep you from reading it? Would you be afraid of too much camp?

Thank you for your input.

It would have to be dark like Watchmen, but in a different kind of way. In which that the heroes actually fight but also delving into their personalities outside of being a hero.

Wildcards would probably be your best bet. It's a series written by a bunch of different guys and edited by GRRM. From what I understand, they're actual novels with one continuous story from cover to cover, but the authors kind of hot-potato it from chapter to chapter.

The feel from what I gather, as well, is very much like Rising Stars.

I read Soon I Will Be Invincible. Wasn't bad.

Don't change these.
