Sup fantasy faggots. I'd like to get into this Forgotten Realms thing. I don't know anything about the world or the characters. What should I read first? I don't know much care about RPGs so no Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale or whatnot.

WTF is your problem you want to get into a fantasy series that is pretty much an rpg yet you don't want to read baldur's gate or icewind dale? Best thing I can say is read Ed Greenwoods Elminster series or R A Salvatores drizzt series.

Drizzt is cool when you're 12. Homeland is really the only thing with him in it worth reading. Maybe the Sellswords Trilogy for Jarlaxle, but I haven't read that yet.

Either way, if you want a good Realms series, go for The War of the Spider Queen or the Erevis Cale Trilogy. Both are surprisingly good and don't have any of that whole "everyone being a plot armor-swathed goody-goody who ride off into the sunset at the end of the book" bullshit.

I definitely agree with the war of the spider queen series recommendation.however you still might want to read the first trilogy of drizzt for background info.

The Drizzt series is good. Though, lots of emoness from Drizzt himself. Any book with Jarlaxle is the shit.

Don't change these.
