What if Harry Potter was written by a male

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-24 1:47

Would be less faggotry and more sex and violence. More awesome, less corny.

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-24 3:19

i think its fine where it is. the book is intended to be aimed towards the teenage audience anyways.

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-24 3:39

So, in light of this, any recommendations for a good fantasy read that are aimed at adults. More like Lord of the Rings.

Star Wars was written by a male and it's still horrible.

no such thing, sorry

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-24 5:05

The only reason it's popular is because the media tell the masses so.

Just read Fortess in the Eye of Time and be happy.

Womyn authors tend to have more sex in their stories. And more brutality. At least this is what I've come to notice when reading fantasy. There are, of course, exceptions, and the best fantasy authors are male. But in general, I'd say that men tend to write in more corny shit while women have grittier stories.

Name: Anonymous 2009-07-25 6:39

It's true that women writers are high on disgusting.

Second.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-05 4:10

If Harry Potter was written by a man, somebody would've bought a gun and shot Voldemort and been done with it. None of this chosen boy faggotry.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-05 7:31

In the UK they aren't allowed to buy guns. :(

Not true. My father owns three shotguns, and they have been around since i was a child.
He does use them for clay pigeon shooting, but still.
I remember the furore around 15/16 years bin when gun owners actually had to own a locked gun cabinet by law.
There are legal guns in England.

If Harry Potter was written by a man, there would be a totally different story. It wouldn't be about friendship and shit, which would change the course of the story in total.

I think it's fine the way it is, though. (I do wish there was a bit more erotic behavior, instead of that pussy kissing and hugging. Teens can handle sex, not a big deal)

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-13 14:10

The books would be better written.  Less meandering, less padding and filler, less irrelevant details.

AND THEN HERMIONE AND RON FUCKED ALL NIGHT

Shit would be awkward as hell and really wasn't necessary. 17 year old virgins aren't exactly rare.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-16 20:08

A male would be too stupid to even think of the concept. A male would just write another cliche war book but with wizards. Just like the thousands of other male fantasy authors who all write the same story and copy each other endlessly.

Well to be fair, the series is already filled with things that are awkward as hell and really unnecessary. Besides, I remember at least one hint at sex in the fourth book, though it could have of course been my wild imagination.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-16 22:55

>>27
Well then thank goodness men are stupid enough to write books that aren't Harry Potter.

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-17 15:44

Er...Terry Pratchet?

Name: Anonymous 2009-08-18 22:00

He would'nt need to buy a gun, he could shoot bullets out of his wand like he could an arrow. Harry Potter ended for me as soon as I realized that, cause there is no reason for the killing curse. No need for endless study of dark arts, it's begginers magic
