After it being recommended to me by numerous sources, I can't help but think that Gene Wolf's Book of the New Sun sounds pretty jawsome. Is this true, /book/? Might I perhaps be better off with a different book by him before starting said series?
I also mistakenly picked up the second half of the second series, thinking it was the second half of the first. Worth keeping, /book/, or is it rubbish?

Speaking of Gene Wolf...I know "The Knight" (it's fantasy, obviously :p) yet I've never read it. Is it worth a read?

Is this some kind of furry science book?

Yes, get The Book of the New Sun. Urth of the New Sun is optional.

You mean you got volume 3 & 4 of Book of the Long Sun? Only peripherally related to Book of the New Sun, just basically set in the same universe, so you dont necessarily need to have read and enjoyed New Sun.
If you do read Long Sun you'll want to read the follow up three-part Book of the Short Sun though.

Its Wolfe-lite. As is often the case its first person narrated and yeah the narrator is unreliable, it is complex and intricate but nothing like New Sun & co. so you should be able to pick up on everything thats going on.

To OP: Yes, it's true. It's awesome. Now all you have to do is read it.

I didn't really like The Knight, largely due to how annoying the narrator/protagonist was. Kudos to Wolfe for actually making Able sound and act exactly like a kid in his early teens, to the point of making me unbelievably disgusted by him.

My favorite Gene Wolfe novel is There Are Doors. Just sayin'.
