People going crazy.

Hey everyone! What are some good books about people going crazy? Preferably in the first person? Something like Stephen Kings Ballad of the Rubber Bullet or a book told by a crazy person like American Psycho or something like the Tell Tale Heart.

I want to see insanity.

This is utter bullshit. listen you little King, You're twelve years old and the only reason you're allowed on here is because nobody can verify that for a fact.

House of Leaves. I think he goes crazy. I don't remember too well through the haze of pretentiousness that was that book.

OP here, I already read House of Leaves, was freaking awesome, I totally loved it.

Come on, no ones got anything?!

H.P. Lovecraft, he writes short stories, but they almost always end with the main character going insane.

Not really what I'm looking for. There has to be a book along the lines of following a person as they go insane.

i can name plenty of books where people are mental to begin with but honestly there are very VERY few books like this because nobody can fully comprehend what its like to be insane without being insane, and most insane people don't think to write their insanity on paper.. but i will recommend you google for some schizophrenia stories of patients who have recovered, they are by far more fascinating than any fictional stuff that i could possibly recommend you. some links to get you started

all of which are true.

for books, if you haven't read stuff like, a beautiful mind(EMPEROR OF ANTARCTICA FTW! lol), bell jar(meh not crazy enough for my taste tbh but still kinda nuts and a good read), hurry down sunshine( almost dont want to mention because i thought it sucked, but a lot of people think its great, so its hit or miss, honesty after her breakdown i got bored with it its about a bipolar girl and her descent into it from her fathers prospective, only read this if you get it for free) so theres some to get you started.

OHHH!how could i forget "i know this much is true" maybe it seems like i just really like books about paranoid schizoidz but honestly they are 10x more interesting than books about retards or bipolar people, ect. its about a guy who takes care of his schizo twin brother and then all of a sudden his brother goes off his meds and hacks off his hand in a library for god and gets sent off. really great read but its rediculously long, but it kept my attention throughout. skim over the boring flashback shit about their grandfather, why woudl andyone want to read that.

hope thsi helps!

Knut Hamsun's 'Hunger'.

I could recommend one, but you'd think this was a bit presumptious of myself. I could send in a story of mine, called "Black Web". Its in Portuguese, so it takes a couple of hours translating it. Its a mix of classic pulp noir and cyberpunk /space opera. It was for a contest that i failed epicly to win. So I'd like to see what the boards have to say about it. Its a short story (to be true, more like a really short novella) and its in the first person so i guess it could fare well

The Wasp Factory. It's about a kid who lives in a family of crazy people and he mutilates animals to use as magic protection circles and weird crap like that.

Don't change these.
