writing

So, how many of you besides reading books, write anything? Be it novels, poems or even books.

I currently decided to hop on the bandwagon and start writing stuff, if not only to improve my verbal skills. I feel it may help in some of the issues inside me head too, since i'm forced to think of things in lots of different ways. I know it's going to be pretty much impossible to get anything published ever, but it's worth a try and probably better waste of time than video games.

Well said OP. There's allreay a similar thread about this further down. And like that guy said it's pretty difficult. I tried writing a short story and I relaised I have a rather short vocabulary.

I write, and have been researching on how to get published. It's tough and tricky, but not impossible.

So far, the only thing I've finished is on 3litchan. Motivation is my biggest obstacle.

Although i'm pretty fluent in english, I much rather write in my native tongue. English has so awful lot of words with small nuances that seem to be constantly used in english literature that i'm just not up to bar. However, I would be able to reach a much wider audience were I to try writing in English, but I'm not quite sure if it would be worth a shot.

Anyway, currently re-reading everything i have in my bookshelf to broaden my vocabulary of my native language.

I tend to not publicly say that out loud on 4chan due to reputation of finns around here. Oh lord, there are so many practitioners of the art of words in this little northern country.. It's probably easier to become the president than get to published.

Are there any good forums/websites to try and read/post your own writing? 3litchan only does erotic fiction.

I'm writing a screenplay and hoping to get it produced. If I post a summary here [in this thread], will you guys give me some advice, or should I make my own thread.

Also, I love writing as well. I have a problem with making my stuff a bit too metaphorical, psychoanalytical and pretentious though.

No, never. Mind you, there's not much I'd be embarrassed doing.

Yes, but you do them anyway because if you writing it get a reaction from your own mind, it will also elicit a reaction from the reader.

I write as well as read.
I'm currently working on finishing up my first novel. As well as noveling I write short stories and the occasional poem.

Almost every writer reads so I'd be surprised if a board for books didn't have at least a few writers.

I, too, write. I have finished one novel. I submitted it to about ten agents, all but one of which rejected it outright. The other rejected it after a partial.

Looking back, I see how bad it sucked and am thankful no one published it. I am 80% through my second novel and feel like this one is the real deal.

I now believe the adage of, "Your first book always sucks, even if it gets published."
