Amazon now lists the release date for A Dance with Dragons as december 31st 2035.
I think this is a little too optimistic. Maybe if the bottom falls out of the toy knight market and the 2009-2035 nfl seasons are canceled this date may become realistic.
In the meantime, discuss ASOIAF and why GRRM is so bad at making deadlines.

I didn't really like it. I thought it was clunky and joyless, and stretched believability too far in the wrong directions. Of course, I just read 3/4 of the first book and am not an expert.

Yeah im getting a little bit frustrated about this book. I'm sure thousands of people have bitched in the past and thousands will in the future but i've been a fan since the beginning and 4+ years, especially when the author is saying it will be done this year, every year, is getting really frustrating. And the fact that feast for crows basically revealed absolutely nothing in terms of plot progression, was even more irritating. Is Daenerys going to invade or not? Northern kingship going to be revitalized? What the fuck is happening with jon and stannis at the wall? basically all the important questions seem to be waiting for a dance with dragons yet GRRM seems to be making us wait an interminable amount of time for answers.

In his latest blog entry, he said he was making better progress this month than he has in like a year, finishing 3 chapters in 3 days and shit. He said one of his biggest problems that he needs to overcome is some plot point that he's getting fucked by or something. They edit as he goes so hopefully once that's sorted out it'll be nearly done and can rush into production for christmas.
