After spending the fall and spring semesters wading through a long list of Important Timeless Literature, I've been spending the summer gorging on light reading. You know, books to take to the beach, that sort of thing. I recently read:
The Ruins -- Fairly intense but disappointing in that it had nothing to do with ruins (at least in the literal sense) and didn't do much with the Mexican/Mayan setting. Also, the characters weren't very interesting.
Basically, I'm hoping you guys can suggest more books in that vein (exotic horror or whatever), except better.
Yeah, they aren't exactly 'good' novels, but they don't require any thought and stay interesting while you're reading them due to WHAT A TWEEST moments.
