Atlas Shrugged vs A Confederacy of Dunces

Name: Anonymous 2009-05-28 21:44

I will read one of them over the summer but I dont know which one.  I have read Anthem by Ayn Rand and enjoyed that book so I'm probably gonna read Atlas Shrugged anyways.

I have heard great things about Atlas Shrugged but ACoD won a pulitzer prize.

They both sound good.

Atlas Shrugged is a terrible book, it's just a vehicle for Rand to push Objectivism, and poorly done at that. Anthem and We The Living are far better books. A Confederacy Of Dunces is good, funny in places and on the whole a more worthwhile read than Atlas Shrugged.

Ive heard that before but I have also heard people who liked Atlas Shrugged. Im not a big fan of Rand's Objectivism theme.  I started reading ACoD this morning after an exam and its pretty good so far.
I will probably end up reading Atlas Shrugged to get an idea of what it is about. I have heard great things about it but also alot of bad things.

if you don't like the ideas, the writing is so bad it will make you want to gouge your eyes out

The Fountainhead is a much more worthwhile read. I'm a fan of Rand's work and I don't ever plan on reading Atlas Shrugged again.

Don't change these.
