Neuromancer....?

Is it any good? I'm not a big fan of sci-fi, so will I enjoy it?

No, it is no good and you won't enjoy it. Sorry.

Yes, it's good (although it could be better — not his best book). No, you won't enjoy it. If you had taste, you'd be a big fan of science fiction (don't call it sci-fi).

Here, have a collection of short stories by him to test the waters.

its shit even if you were a huge fan of sci-fi

to put it simply, the plot sucks, the characters suck, you change settings every 15 minutes for no fucking reason, there are space rastas

burning chrome is a little better, but id say skip neuromancer and go to count zero

Just out of curiosity: what Sci-fi books have you read, op?

I have yet to read neuromancer, but a complaint I've heard more than once is that it bombards you with words and concepts whos definitions aren't explained. So it's probably not a good book to read if you're just now giving science fiction a try.

I don't recall that happening. What I recall was a really strong beginning, with the main character leaping out of a second-story window after taking too many drugs, then the whole thing kind of going to shit at the point where a certain person dies and main character starts zooming all over the world, then up to the space Rastas. Then the end is pretty good.

It's good for the mood and the characters, but the plot isn't divided neatly into three acts, it's more like an anime OAV where the plot seems shorter than it should be but there were some good parts you remember.  A movie adaptation probably wouldn't work unless they added stuff, but looking at Johnny Mnemonic, you don't want that.

Hey, I liked Johnny Mnemonic.

Don't change these.
