Anyone try the kindle or a similar device? I don't really care about the internet service, just the ease of reading. Does it feel as natural as book as they claim it does?

I would like to try one out. NPR has been screaming that e-books are the second coming of christ.

Kindles are fucking lame. I like the art on books and looking at my bookshelf recalling what I've read and may pick up for a few hours. Given how people today only read what is on the best sellers list(tired political, and self help shit) I can see why it is gaining popularity.
Most of my books end up in boxes since I have little shelf space, so I don't really care about having an empty bookshelf.

I fail to see your point. Amazon's library is much larger than any book store's, not to mention all the free ebooks I can download from other sites.

Of course people will still buy/collect books. I don't think anything can feel the way a book feels but these electronic devices are can be very useful for schools to replace textbooks. Newspapers are also available on the kindle. If I had one I would still buy books that I really like but I'd probably be reading the kindle more than paper books. It's the same way with music. Most of the music I listen to is in mp3 but I still buy CDs regularly.

I'm waiting for digital paper. You could have them bound together and flip pages, and when you're at the end you just load more pages and go back to the beginning. It preserves that realtime flipping feeling.

Haha, CDs? Fuck your newfangled digital shit, real music aficionados only buy vinyl. Haha, I hope you drop that shit in a microwave, lose all your data and burn down your house, faggot.

Will voluntarily buy an e-reader once we get flexible displays. Not until then.
