I really like the premise behind the Dresden Files books but I've read some really bad reviews (reviews lol) . How bad is this book guys?

So you don't trust reviews but you'll trust random people here (of all places) ?

I didn't say that I didn't trust reviews at all. I just made the mistake of reading all the 1 star reviews first, and they were pretty disheartening.

You're right, no one should ask any questions relating to peoples opinions regarding literature on a message board solely dedicated to discussing the subjective qualities of books.....

How about you just steal an ebook and give it a shot? If you "really like the premise" half an hour of reading a bit of the first one to see if you like it won't kill you - especially since this series doesn't really dive head first into the shitter with later volumes like a few others of its genre did.

I for one really liked them, they're light, popcorn-y books, but then I don't give a shit about the elitist trolls 'round these parts. If it feels good, man, I read it.
